Approved Premises Relief Supervisor (Casual workers)
£8.96 p/h (plus premium for weekend working)

We are recruiting staff to work in our residential accommodation in Gloucester, supervising and supporting offenders in the rehabilitation process.

You will be responsible for security and safety of the accommodation and residents, including risk assessments, accommodation checks and record keeping. You will be required to work shifts of up to 12 hours, including night work.

Enforcement, rehabilitation and public protection

Job Purpose

To assist AP Management and duty Assistant Managers in ensuring the security and safety of the hostel, its residents and staff by undertaking waking night/daytime/weekend cover as required.

To contribute with other AP staff to the enforcement of bail conditions particularly in relation to curfew.

The role of Relief Supervisor must be carried out within the context of the value system and policies of Gloucestershire Probation Trust.

Main Duties

1. Carry out regular patrols of the building to ensure the security of the building and health and safety of other staff and residents.

2. Support the AP regime by encouraging residents to make good use of the services offered and by working with colleagues to enforce the rules.

3. Assist in the delivery of workshops for offenders.

4. Work with offenders who have been assessed as posing a high/very high risk of serious harm.

5. Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents.

6. Carry out administrative tasks including filing, copying, data recording and retrieval.

7. Undertake basic domestic duties including cleaning, vacuming and emptying bins and work with colleagues to ensure residents do daily domestics chores.

8. Assist with the training and induction of newly appointed staff through the use of the 'Shadow Shift' system.

9. Work with colleagues to maintain and enhance effective working relationships.

10. Liaise effectively with staff within the Trust and other relevant agencies as required.

11. Promote and support people's equality, diversity and rights.

12. Contribute to own development by reflecting on and evaluating own values, priorities and effectiveness.

13. Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions and relevant training events as required, including First Aid Training.

14. Use information communication technology including accessing e-mail on a regular basis.

No formal qualifications are required but a good ability to communicate is essential, as is the ability to work as part of a team. Expereince of residential or night work will be an advantage.

Night allowance when appropriate plus additional payment for weekend and Bank holiday working.
